9 Carnations That Own The Most Unique Blossoms

Have the Most Unique Flowers

A trendy alternative for many gardeners in this area, the carnation is a plant that thrives in hardiness zones six through ten. Carnations come in a variety of colors and sizes and are known as "flowers of the gods". Each variation has a unique meaning intended to portray, and different situations often call for a different variation. Although carnations can be divided into three broad categories, there are hundreds of different varieties. Now we have classified 15 types of carnations, whose flowers will be bright wherever they appear.

1. Dianthus Caryophyllus

They are often red, pink, salmon, and white in color and thrive in humid environments.

2. Dianthus Chinensis Heddewigii

This unusual-looking plant, sometimes called black and white minstrels, has black velvet-like leaves and white lace around the petals. It prefers to grow in well-drained soil and in full light and can reach a height of 14 inches.

3. Dianthus Grataniapolitensis

Summer is when this plant blooms with its beautiful pink flowers. They grow in direct sunlight, but they cannot survive in cold or wet soil. Because of their thick growth, they are the perfect ground cover for any garden.

4. Dianthus Plumarius

This is a common pink carnation found in many gardens. They bloom from May to August and reach two feet tall at maturity. The petals of the flowers are often fringed, giving a distinctive carnation look that most people remember.

5. Dianthus chinensis

This variety produces red or pink flowers. They are short-lived perennials that are often used as ground covers. They thrive in full light and well-drained soil. They have a lovely fragrance and will brighten up your garden and add color to your outdoor decor.

6. Dianthus 'Superstar' (Pink)

One thing that catches our attention is that this carnation has cherry red flowers that are darker in the center. It grows six to eight inches tall and has outer marginal petals. This plant would make a wonderful border for most gardens and likes to thrive in full light.

7. Dantes Barbatus

It's a variety that will grow a bit the first year it's planted, but it's unlikely to flower during that time. This aromatic plant thrives in most conditions and can reach a height of two feet. Butterflies, birds, and bees will flock to your garden.

8. Dianthus Armeria (Deptford Pink)

This variety is another pink carnation that will look stunning in most gardens. In the wild, it can reach a height of 12 inches, but with good care, it can reach a significant height in your backyard garden. The soft pink color of this flower is often used to draw attention to other flowers.

9. Dianthus Superbus

This plant has fringed flowers that give it a very unique look. The flowers are purple, crimson, or white and grow on the ground. The flower has a pleasant aroma and can even be used to make good tea.
